Antique Wood Wooden Primitive Slide Lid Box W/ Flat Profile & Modified Interior
Description: A nice antique wood flat profile box with a sliding lid. The box is brown in color and is of nail and dove-tailed construction. The sliding lid has a carved pull near the edge to assist with opening it. The box itself appears to have had four compartments as evident by the fact that you can see the notches where wooden walls were inserted and nail spots where these walls were nailed. The interior of the box shows black stains on the floor and cracks on the sides as can be seen in the photos. The exterior of the box, which is varnished is soiled, with scratches and shows that the top edge where the lid ends once the box is closed, has been broken in the past and repaired with nails (see the last two photos). The bottom of the box is unvarnished and shows age cracks here and there and staining from the nails that held the separators. The box is finished on the outside and not on the inside or the bottom. This box has a primitive form with a rather flat profile but is still in acceptable condition after being around for many years. Just a nice antique piece of primitive Americana to add to your Collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
