Bank of Belgian Congo 1942 Ten Francs Banknote Pick 14B Nice Very Fine Note
Description: A nice very fine banknote from the Belgian Congo. This is the 10 July 1942 ten Francs currency note issued by the Bank of the Belgian Congo. The banknote is brown on green and pink underprint. The front depicts the Watusi Dancers with trees and a hut in the background to the left of center. The front also has an over print in black stating "DEUXIEME EMISSION-1942" the date, the serial number and two signatures. It also shows the denomination in number and in French. The back is written in Flemish and depicts huts, trees and soldiers in brown with a blue sky. The back also has an over print stamp in black says "TWEEDE UITGIFTE-1942" and shows two signatures. The note has a watermark showing the head of an Okapi and is dated 10.07.42. This particular note has the serial number F203290, which is displayed twice in red on the front. Please carefully review scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 10.07.42 (July 10, 1940).
Printer: Waterlow & Sons Limited of London, England.
Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/8" by ~3 3/8".
Pick Number: P 14B.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as very fine with all the details being still well preserved. The note has several vertical folds and a horizontal fold. The folds as well as the many bumps and creases are soiled and so is the note in general. The note also has a few minor and rather small stains. The note retains some of its original stiffness and crispiness. It is intact with no tears or splits. Its corners are mostly intact and have minimum rounding. The edges are intact with minimum roughness. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, and no major objectionable stains. This is a very nice example of this rather interesting and scarce note, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please view the scan presented for additional condition information.
