  • $ 147.77

Description: A nice very good banknote from the Belgian Congo. This is the March 10,1943 twenty Francs currency note issued by the Bank of the Belgian Congo. The banknote is orange and yellow on the front with the image of seven men paddling a dugout canoe in a river. The front is in French and shows the serial number in black twice. This particular note has the serial number H681657 and has the overprint in black indicating it is "QUATRIEME EMISSION-1943. The back has the same color scheme as the front and has the image of a working elephant in the forest. The back has text in Flemish. The note has a watermark depicting an elephant's head. Please carefully review scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: The note is dated 10.03.43 on the front.

Printer: Thomas De La Rue & Company Ltd, London England.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/2" by ~3 1/2".

Pick Number: P15C and is listed in the Banknote Book as B217b.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very good or better with all the details being still preserved. The note was obviously pressed. It is a well used note but still intact. Corners have wear and rounding, the edges have nicks and short tears, which do not extend into the design. The note shows some discoloration but no major objectionable staining. The note has pinholes mostly in the center from excessive folding and along the fold lines. The note is limp but has no missing pieces. The note has several folds and general wrinkling, it is soiled with a few minor stains but has no objectionable stains. The note has no graffiti, no tears and no splits. Other than that the note has general wear and roughness to the edges. The corners are intact with some rounding and bumping but no losses. This is a relatively nice example of this rather scarce note, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please view the scan presented for additional condition information.
