Beautiful 1289-1311 Silver Coin Venice Italy Pietro Gradenigo Grosso Toned AU
Description: Beautiful silver coin showing no date from Venice Italy. This is a Grosso from the times of Doge Pietro Gradenigo in the period of 1289-1311. The coin shows the Doge and St. Mark standing next to each other and holding staff with the letters DVX along the top of the staff and the legend "PE GRADONICO / S M VENETI" surrounding the image on the obverse. The reverse shows Christ enthroned facing front holding the book of gospels. The reverse has the legend "IC | XC" at either side of halo. The coin is undated but was issued during the period 1289-1311. The coin is much better than the photos suggest. It is nicely toned with some luster and great eye appeal. It is Biaggi 2794, Gamberini 56, and is listed in Numista as N#113607. It weighs ~2.1 gm and measures ~2.50 mm. The coin is beautiful and in great state of preservation. Condition: I would grade this coin as nicely toned about uncirculated with some residual luster. The coin has minimum wear and is nicely toned with great eye appeal. The coin still retains most of its details and shows minor surface marks such as scratches or bag marks. The coin is problem free and has great eye appeal.
