Beautiful 1743MF Philip V of Spain Silver Coin Mexico 8 Reales Mint Mark Mo XF

  • $ 497.07

Description: A great looking extremely fine 1743 Mexican crown size silver coin. This is the Philip V 8 Reales depicting the crowned globe flanked by crowned pillars on the obverse with the date below and surrounded by the legend "VTRAQUE VNUM" followed by the mint mark "Mo." The reverse depicts the crowned arms of Spain flanked by the MF and 8 with the legend "PHILIP.V.D.G.HISPAN.ET IND.REX" These coins were used extensively in the US before the silver dollars were circulated. The coin is lightly toned and shows all the details very well. It is a truly a nice coin with great eye appeal and has nice heft to it. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1743.

Origin: Mexico.

Weight and Size: The coin is ~38 mm in diameter and weighs ~26.5 grams of 91.7% silver.

References: KM#103.

Condition: I would grade this coin as a nice lightly toned extremely fine with all the details being very well preserved and wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. The coin has even wear on both sides, some scratches, bag marks, some embedded soiling especially on the reverse, and a wear to the edge pattern. It has wear to the highest points but still retains its details and looks great. It is beautiful, well preserved and has great eye appeal. A great coin to add to your collection.
