Beautiful 500 Lire Banknote 1947 Bank of Italy Issue Very Fine or Better Pick Number 80a

Description: A beautiful very fine or much better banknote from Italy, issued by the Bank of Italy. This is the 1947 Five Hundred (500) or Cinquecento Lire bank note. This purple on light brown underprint banknote depicts the image of Italia to the left of the front. It has a red colored seal in the bottom center of the front as well as two signatures. It has the serial number 0438709 and is series A86. The back of the note is purple on gray underprint.. It has the denomination in numerals in the center and in all four corners of the back. The note has a watermark depicting the bust of Italia within the white rectangle on the right of the front and left of the back. Pick Number: P 80a.

Condition: I would grade the banknote as a good very fine or much better. The note retain some of its original stiffness and crispiness. The note is lightly soiled, has several vertical folds but no noticeable horizontal fold. The note has several small stains and some color smudging especially on the back near the right edge. The edges show minor roughness and there are some nicks at the ends of the center vertical fold. The corners are intact and have minimum rounding. The note has no pinholes, no tears, no splits, and no graffiti. Please see the scans for additional condition information.
