Beautiful Large Crisp Banknote 1912 Russia 500 Rubles Czar Peter The Great P 14b

  • $ 77.77

Description: A beautiful apparent uncirculated Banknote or State Credit Note from Russia. This is the 1912 five hundred Rubles. This is a very large size banknote having black design on a green background on the back and black designs on multicolored underprint with green background on the front. The back shows the image of Czar Peter I or Peter the Great to the left and mother Russia seated with scepter in her hand and a shield in her other hand to the right of the note with a blank portion at the extreme right where the water mark is. The back only shows the denomination. The front on the other hand has a lot of inscriptions in Cyrillic in the center. The front is highly decorated with Cyrillic inscription throughout with a double headed eagle symbol/coat of arms of the Russian Imperial Family in the left top corner. The banknote displays the date and the denomination on the front and only the denomination on the back. It has two signatures with Shipov's signature being one of them dating the note from between 1912-1917. This particular note has the serial number (upside L which is G and C which is S in Cyrillic) GS 128236 displayed twice in red on the front. The note has water mark depicting the image of Czar Peter the Great. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1912.

Printer: Russian Treasury.

Size: The banknote measures ~10 7/8" by ~5".

Pick Number: P 14b.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as a apparent uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no folds or creases with its corners being fully squared with no observable rounding. The note retains its original stiffness. sheen, and crispiness. The note is clean with no stains. It has no graffiti with edges being intact with no observable roughness. The note has a pinhole near the edge above the head of mother Russia and a small tear (~1/4") with some light markings surrounding it at the edge below the foot of mother Russia. These do not appear to have occurred because of circulation but they are the result of possible mishandling. This is the reason we grade the note as Apparent uncirculated as opposed to just uncirculated. Be that as it may, this is a nice piece to add to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
