Beautiful Roseville Pottery 1940s Brown Clematis Pattern Teapot With Lid and Applied Handle
Description: A most beautiful brown colored art pottery teapot having its original lid, applied handle and spout. This great piece of decorative art pottery is made by the Roseville Pottery Company. This teapot is in the Clematis pattern depicting broad blossoms of six and seven petals with a trailing vine on textured background of brown and green coloring on both sides of the piece near the top. It was made from 1944 on. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Sometime post 1944.
Origin: The piece is part of a large collection purchased from a collector in Southern New Jersey, which we have been and will continue listing over the coming weeks and months. It was of course made in Roseville, Ohio.
Size: The piece measures ~3 3/4" in diameter at the base, ~7 1/2" at its tallest, and ~11" at its widest including the spout. The teapot weighs slightly over three pounds and six ounces.
Maker: Roseville Pottery Company.
Marks: In relief on the bottom of the base the words "Roseville, U. S. A. 5" which can be seen in the photos.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a truly nice piece which is uncommon and relatively difficult to come by in such great condition. The colors are rich, fresh and vivid and it would display very well in your collection.
Condition: The piece is in excellent condition with no cracks, hairlines, or repairs. The piece has signs of onset of crazing to the glaze as evidenced by a few short and minor lines in the glaze within the surface. However, these are minor, minimal and very difficult to find and see. We actually had to use a 10X loop and examined every part of the surface. The only thing we see is a small chip of the inner edge of the lid's foot, which we show in the last photo.Other than that, the piece is lightly soiled and would probably benefit from a good cleaning, but we leave that to the new owner. The piece is great looking and would display nicely. A great and rather uncommon piece to add to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
