Beautiful Roseville Pottery 1940s Brown Water Lily Pattern Decorative Basket 381-10"
Description: A most beautiful brown colored art pottery basket having a squared base and a high handle attached to the sides and rising above the basket. This great piece of decorative art pottery is made by the Roseville Pottery Company. This nominal 10" tall piece is in the water lily pattern. The pattern shows a yellow water lily blossom floating on the textured surface resembling rippling water with green pads below it. It was made from 1943 on. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Sometime post 1943.
Origin: The piece is part of a large collection of Roseville pottery we purchased from a collector, which we have been and will continue listing over the coming weeks and months. It was of course made in Roseville, Ohio.
Size: The piece measures ~10 1/4" at its tallest with the base measuring ~4 3/8" by 4 3/8" and the body of the basket is ~9 1/2" by ~4 7/8" by ~5 1/8" at its largest dimensions. The piece weighs about two pound and 5 ounces.
Maker: Roseville Pottery Company.
Marks: In relief on the bottom of the base the words "Roseville, U. S. A. 381-10" which can be seen in the photos.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a truly nice piece which is uncommon and relatively difficult to come by. The colors are rich, fresh and vivid and it would display very well in your collection.
Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no cracks, hairlines, crazing to the glaze, or repairs. The piece has a small surface chip to the edge of the base, which have been carefully colored over with brown coloring and is difficult to see (see second photo near the left edge of the base the slightly lighter color area). Other than that the piece is lightly soiled and would probably benefit from a good cleaning, but we leave that to the new owner. The piece is great looking and would display nicely. A great and rather uncommon piece to add to your collection. Because of the issue discussed above we are selling the piece "AS IS" at a fraction of its true value. Please see photos for additional condition information.
