Cast Iron Still Penny Bank Scottie Dog Sitting on His Hind Legs with Ears Perked
Description: A vintage painted cast iron still penny bank in the form of a sitting Scottie dog. This bank in brownish tan or dirty cream in color and shows a Scottie dog sitting on his hind legs with his front legs fully stretched. He has his head pointing forward and his ears fully perked. Its tail stretches and curved side ways by one of his hind legs. It has black colored eyes, black colored nose and mouth. It shows great detail in its fur coat and eyebrows. The bank is made of two parts held together with a screw appearing to be original. We have attempted to unscrew it but were not successful and opted not to try any further. The bank is well soiled but retains quite a bit of its original paint. It shows losses to the paint exposing the black color under the paint and giving he dog quite a bit of character. It has the coin slot on the back of its head. Again, we have not attempted to open the bank, so we do not know if it has any markings on the inside. The piece has quite a bit of its original color left with losses throughout the body. This is a nice looking bank worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: This bank is in very good condition given its age and use. It is all original and retains quite a bit of its original paint. The bank has general wear, losses of paint, which can be seen in the photos. These losses of paint give the bank a nice look and great character. The piece also has some minor rust spots. Although the two cast parts that make out the bank fit together very well throughout the entire piece, the front of the face is a bit off and does not represent an excellent fit.
