Cast Metal Wise Owl Standing on Tree Stump Still Penny Bank BE WISE SAVE MONEY
Description: A nice old gold colored metal still penny bank. The bank is cast in the form of an owl standing on a branch of a tree stump. The bank is colored in gold, with the bird's eye being colored im green. The bank has the words "BE WISE SAVE MONEY" in raised lettering on the tree stump. The bank is made of two parts held together with a screw. The casting shows details of the owl's face and plumage as well as the tree stump. The writing (BE WISE SAVE MONEY) is not well pronounced as we have seen it in other similar banks leading us to believe this maybe a later casting of the bank. The bank appears to be all original and retains most of its original paint. It has the coin slot on the back of the owl's head. This is a very nice looking penny bank in good condition. Please see page 90 in Andy and Susan Moor's Book "The Penny Bank Book: Collecting Still Banks" Published by Schiffer Books in 1984, for a photo of a similar example (bank number 598). Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
