Christmas 2013 Redware Plate Glazed with Slip Decoration Santa Standing and Holding Gifts by Eldreth Pottery

Description: Round redware plate with a slightly flat base and flared rounded sides terminating in a plain rim. The dish has a brown background with a dark brown or black colored sponge decoration along the edge. The plate has a slip representation of a Santa Clause standing in his robe with gifts in his hands. The design is in gray and black surrounded by yellow fireworks decoration? Santa is in a gray and black coat and has a white beard. The gifts Santa is holding have the year 2013 written on them. Date: 2013.

Origin: Oxford, Pennsylvania.

Size: ~8 3/8" in diameter and is ~1 3/4" high. The plate weighs a bit over 1 pound and 5 ounces.

Maker: Eldreth Pottery.

Marks: "Eldreth 2013, KN" on bottom. KN are presumably the initials of the artist who made the plate.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice piece with a very modern slip design. This design is not a usual Pennsylvania Dutch design, but the colors of the plate and the making style are. This is a beautiful round dish, which seldom comes by. Definitely deserves a prominent spot in your redware collection.

Condition: Plate is in excellent like new condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, hairlines, or crazing to the glaze. A beautiful plate to add to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
