Crisp Large Banknote 1912 Russia 500 Rubles Czar Peter The Great Pick 14b VF/XF
Printer: Russian Treasury.
Size: The banknote measures ~10 7/8" by ~5".
Pick Number: P 14b.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good very fine or much better (possibly extremely fine) with all the details being very well preserved. The note has what looks like a light vertical fold with additional partial angled light folds especially near the corners. The note retains quite a bit of its original stiffness and crispiness, but has some slight bumps in the blank area. Its colors are bright and well preserved. The note is relatively clean with very light soiling but no stains. It has no pinholes or graffiti. It is intact with no tears or splits and the corners are intact with some rounding. The note also has a defect in the paper on the back near the bottom right corner as well as a small ink spot in the same area. These are artifacts of the manufacturing process and are original to the making. It is our opinion that the note was most likely never circulated or very lightly circulated and that most of the issues outlined above are due to handling by collectors and storage over the years. Be that as it may, this is a great piece to add to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
