  • $ 84.99

Description: A beautiful very fine or much better (we are tempted to call it extremely fine) banknote from France. This is the G.24-4-1941.G fifty francs or Cinquante Francs. The banknote has brown, blue, and red design on multicolor underprint. The front depicts image of Jacques Coeur at left of the front. The front also has a white heart to the right of center where the watermark can be seen. There is a building in the center. The back has a woman with yarn on a stick to the right with sheep as well as cows in the background. The white heart is also there and is to the left of center. This particular note has the serial number 178951632 and is series P.72. It is signed by P. Rousseau and R. Favre-Gilly. The banknote has a water mark, within the white heart, depicting the head of a woman wearing a head dress. This is a relatively scarce banknote that is seldom seen. Please carefully review the scans provided as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 24-4-1941 (April 24, 1941).

Printer: Bank of France.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 3/4" by ~3 1/2".

Pick Number: P 93.

Condition: For international buyers, please note that the new US postal rates for overseas shipping for first class shipments are generally very high and we are unable to change them. Additional charges will be incurred depending on the value of the item. So please check the shipping cost to your location before bidding. I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine or much better with all the details preserved. The note has one vertical fold and a horizontal crease. Other than that, the note has no tears, splits, pinholes, or wrinkling. The corners are intact and fully squared with minimum rounding if any. The note is relatively clean with minor soiling and no stains. The note is nicely margined and is in great original condition. The note retains quite a bit of its original stiffness and crispiness. This is a rather scarce note in such good condition and is worthy of a spot in any collection. Please see scans for additional condition information.
