Currency 1945 Egypt Five Pounds National Bank of Egypt Pick Number 19c Small Nixon signature Nice Very Fine or Better Banknote
Description: A beautiful very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 13th December 1945 five pounds banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is green and purple in color. It depicts the image of the building housing the National Bank of Egypt in Cairo in the center of the front. It also has designs of ancient Egyptian deities in rectangular frames at the top left and right corners of the front. The back is blue and red on green and orange background. The back shows an image of a building surrounded by palm trees in the center. The note has no watermark that we could find. The front of the note indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 058663 and is from the series M/118, which is displayed three times in black lettering on the front but not on the back. It is signed by Nixon the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. This note has the small Nixon signature. Please carefully review the scans as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 13th December 1945.
Printer: Bradbury Wilkinson & Co. London, Great Britain.
Size: The banknote measures ~6 3/4" by ~3 1/2".
Pick Number: P 19c, with the small Nixon signature.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine with all the details being well preserved. The note has three vertical folds and a horizontal fold with general light wrinkling. Paper has some soiling and a few minor light stains, all of which can be seen in the images presented. The note's paper still retains some of its original stiffness and crispiness. The note has no tears or splits, but has some minor roughness along the edges especially at the ends of the folds and in the center of the top and bottom edges. The corners are intact and fairly squared with minor rounding and do show some bumps as well as creases. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, or repairs. A great note to add to your collection. Please see scans for additional condition information.
