Currency 1948 South African Reserve Bank Ten Shillings Banknote Pick# 91a VF

Description:   A nice very fine Banknote from South Africa. This is the South African Reserve Bank ten Shillings note issued 5 November, 1948. The banknote is brown and has the name of the bank in Afrikaans top center of the front. It also has the portrait of Jan van Riebeeck at left of the front. The front also has the denomination in both English and Afrikaans with the Afrikaans on top. The back has text in both English and Afrikaans on both sides and has the arms of South Africa in the center of the back. The note has a watermark showing the head of J. van Riebeek. The front has one signature of MH de Kock, the date, and the serial number as well as the denomination. This particular note has the serial number A/13 973525, which is displayed twice in black on the front. The back only displays the name of the bank and the denomination. Pick Number:  P 91a and is listed as B719a in the banknote book.

Condition:  I would grade this banknote as nice very fine. The note has several vertical and horizontal folds. It also has general wrinkling and is a bit soiled but has no large objectionable stains. It does have has a few minor light stains here and there. Its corners are intact with some rounding and a few bumps and light creases. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. The note shows some signs of roughness along the edges but shows no losses. A nice-looking example of this note to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
