Currency 1961 Mozambique 100 Escudos Banknote P109a Banco Nacional Ultamarino VF
Description: A nice very fine banknote from Mozambique on the eastern coast of Africa. This is the 27 March 1961, 100 Escudos, issued during the Portuguese administration. The banknote black on and green on multicolored under-print on the front. The front also has the name of Banco Nacional Ultramarino (National Overseas Bank) of Lisbon Portugal in the top margin. The banknote displays the date and the denomination on the front and only the denomination on the back. The front also depicts the bust of A. de Omelas to the right within an oval. The back is green on light orange and shows the bank's logo, a sail ship, within a circle to the left, and the name of the bank and denomination. The note has two signatures on the front. This particular note has the serial number C7709950, which is displayed on the front twice in black, but is not displayed on the back. The note has a watermark depicting arms in the circle to the left of the front. The note also has a security thread to the right of center. Please carefully view scan as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date: 27 March 1961.
Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinsos & Co. of England.
Size: The banknote measures ~6 1/2" by ~3 5/16".
Pick Number: P109a.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as very fine or better with all the details still well preserved. The note has several folds and general wrinkling. It is soiled but has a few minor and small stains. The edges are intact with roughness and minor nicks but has no tears or splits. The corners are intact but show rounding and bumps. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears and no splits. The note is stiff and the paper is not limp. A very nice note in very fine presentable condition, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
