Currency 1972 Mozambique Banco Nacional Ultamarino 1000 Escudos Banknote P112b
Description: A beautiful crisp uncirculated banknote from Mozambique on the eastern coast of Africa. This is the 16 May 1972, One Thousand Escudos, issued during the Portuguese administration. The banknote has a black-blue design on multicolor under-print (containing green, brown or purplish brown, and orange) on the front. The design depicts the image of King Alfonso V facing left to the right of the front. The front also has the name of Banco Nacional Ultramarino (National Overseas Bank) of Lisbon Portugal in the top margin. The banknote displays the date and the denomination on the front and only the denomination on the back. The back of the note has the image of a woman leaning on a wall watching sailing ships in the background all in green coloring. The back also has the seal of the bank showing a sail ship in the center of a circle with the bank's name spelled out along the circumference. The note has two signatures on the front. This particular note the prefix COV and has the serial number 52637 both of which are displayed on the front twice in black, but are not displayed on the back. The banknote also has a thin segmented security thread right of center. The paper of the note retains all of its original stiffness and crispiness and the note is inn uncirculated condition. Condition: I would grade this banknote as crisp uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no folds, no creases, and no soiling. The note retains all of its original crispiness, stiffness, and sheen. It has no pinholes, no graffiti, no stains, no tears, and no splits. The edges are intact with no roughness.
