Description: A beautiful very fine or better banknote from Egypt. This is the 2nd June 1948 ten pounds note issued by the National Bank of Egypt. This is a beautiful and very colorful large banknote. The banknote has orange, yellow light blue, brown, and green colors throughout on the front. It depicts the mosque of Sultan Qala'un the famous Bahari Mamluk ruler, who ruled Egypt in the period 1279 – 1290 to the right of the front. It has a white circle to the left of the front where the watermark is located. The back is green with areas of color (orange, yellow and brown). The back depicts a scene of a waterwheel driven by a buffalo to the left and palm trees in the center and again having the white circle where the watermark is located. The front of the note is written in Arabic and English lettering while the back is in Arabic, with only the denomination being in English. The note shows the denomination on both the front and back. The note has a watermark showing the head of an ancient Egyptian royal. This particular note has the serial number 081292 and is series X/124 shown 3 times on the front. The note was issued by the National Bank of Egypt. It is signed by F. W. Leith-Ross, who was the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time.
