Cute Glazed Goebel Germany Porcelain Still Penny Bank w/ Key Cat Holding Flower
Description: A nice and very cute pottery (porcelain) still bank by Goebel West Germany. The glazed pottery bank is in the form of a cat sitting on its behind and holding a flower in its fore legs. The cat is brown in color with off-white highlights around its mouth. It is wearing a red bow around its neck. The cat has blue eyes and brown whiskers. The piece has a flat base on which it sits. The bottom of the base is equipped with a key operated locked opening to be able to make withdrawals. The cat comes with its original key. The bottom of the cat is marked Goebel WGermany. The cast piece of pottery is very well made and shows details of the cat's eyes, ears, nose, legs, the flower it is holding, the red bowtie, and the tail at his side. It has the coin slot on top of its head between the ears. This is a nice-looking penny bank absolute great condition. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Unknown but most likely sometime in the late 1900s (late 20th century). We believe it was made before 1989 when the Berlin wall fell and the name West Germany was no longer used. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The piece was made in W Germany.
