Don Noyes Folk Art Carved & Painted Colorful Bird Pennsylvania German Inspired
Description: A hand carved and polychrome painted wood American Folk Art bird. The carving which was done by Don G. Noyes is undated but was most likely done in the period 2000-2020. Don Noyes is from Glenford, Ohio. The carving shows a bird standing, with a thick wire leg, on a on a round drum shaped base. The bird is long an elegant. It has raised back and white eyes, carved wings, a beak and a tail. It is pained in wine or reddish-brown color with blue colored wings and green highlights on the bottom of the bird's body and the wings. The piece is marked with the incised letter "DGN" on the bottom of the base. It is in very good condition with no chips, color loses, breaks, or repairs. A very nice piece inspired by Pennsylvania German folk art to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: The piece is undated but was most likely made sometime in the period 2000-2020.
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The bird itself is ~5 1/4" long, ~1 1/4" at its widest, with the base being ~2" in diameter and ~1 1/2" high. The entire piece is ~4 1/4" at its highest. The piece weighs slightly over 2 ounces.
