Egypt Law of 1940 Banknote Five Piastres Pick Number 163 Signed Kamel Sedky VF
Description: A nice very fine banknote from Egypt. This is the 5 piastres note issued according to the law of 1940. The banknote is green, brown, and lilac in color on the front and is lilac on the back. The front has a guilloche pattern while the back shows the spillway of the Aswan Dam. The front indicates that the note was issued according to law number 50 of 1940. The front also shows the serial number in Arabic and the signature of Kamel Sedky, the minister of finance in the period May 1942- June 1943. This particular note has the serial number 467729 and is series "Seen" which is indicated in the upper center of the front. The note has no watermark. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine. The note shows circulation with a central vertical fold and a horizontal fold. The paper shows some soiling but no observable stains. The note still retains some of its original stiffness with its edges showing signs of handling with minor nicks in the border at the ends of the folds. The note has no pinholes, no tears, no splits, and no graffiti. The note's colors are clear and the central brown circular wheel still evident. The corners are intact with minimum rounding and a few bumps. This is a nice piece to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
