Description:   Beautiful lustrous uncirculated 1983 (1404 AH) Five Egyptian Pounds, large, heavy, brilliant, and very lustrous silver coin.  The coin depicts the main building and clock tower of Cairo University in Giza Egypt on the obverse. There is also a shield depicting the ancient Egyptian god of learning and wisdom Thoth sitting and recording on a tablet. Cairo University is the largest and oldest secular degree granting University in Egypt. The coin Has the words Cairo University on top of the obverse and the words Diamond Jubilee on the bottom of the obverse. The reverse is all in beautiful decorative Arabic Calligraphy and an arabesque pattern showing the dates, the denomination, and the fact that it is from The Arab Republic of Egypt. Just a great looking coin that has a particularly large flan measuring 37 millimeters. It is KM-552 and weighs 17.5 grams of 0.72 silver. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Condition:  I would grade this coin as a beautiful lustrous uncirculated with all the details being very well preserved and having full mint luster. The coin is much better than the scan shows. It does have some scratches, bag marks and minor nicks to the rim. However, the coin is great looking and would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photo for condition information.
