Description: A very interesting and unusual framed pen and water color on paper Pennsylvania style fraktur by Garnett B. French. The drawing is of a colorful rooster and chicken facing each other. They are on a brown paper with sponged spots through out to give it the effect of being old. The piece is in a primitive wooden frame painted in red or reddish-brown. The image is covered with glass and has a brown paper backing with a wire stretched along the entire piece to hang from. The birds are very colorful with toned of green, yellow, orange and red all on a mottled light brown colored background. A very interesting painting to add to your Americana folk art collection or use as a decorative accent in your home. Please see photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Mid to late 20th century.

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Lancaster County Pennsylvania, USA.

Size: The fraktur itself measures ~8 1/4" by ~5 3/8", while the frame measures ~10 1/2" by ~7 3/4" and the piece weighs about 15 ounces.

Artist: Garnett B. French.

Marks: Signed lower center G. B. French in cursive calligraphy in the lower corner.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice and very unusual piece of decorative Pennsylvania Dutch folk art. It would display very well in your collection or can be used as an accent for your country décor.

Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no observable problems. The frame itself has a few minor nicks and scratches but nothing to worry about.
