Framed P. Godillot Folk Art Fraktur Hand Painted Drawing Birds & Tulips PA Dutch
Description: A very nice framed Folk Art drawing in the best Pennsylvania Dutch tradition. This beautiful hand painted water color on paper piece represents a typical Pennsylvania Dutch decorative drawing known as Fraktur. It depicts two birds, possibly distelfink flanking a two handled vase with tulips coming out of it. There are two additional birds, more distelfinks? perched on an arch above the main scene with additional smaller tulips. The entire drawing is framed by a yellow and green border having orange semi circles all around. The fraktur is framed in a wooden frame with glass for protection. A great decorative folk art hand drawing on paper done in the Pennsylvania Dutch style common in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. The hand painting on paper is signed P. Godillot, but not dated along the tail of the bird on the right. The piece has a metal bracket on top of the back to hang from. This very colorful piece has green, red, yellow, brown, and black. The piece is framed with glass cover and is in excellent condition ready to be hung on your wall. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Undated but most likely was done some time in the 1980s.
Origin: Purchased from a collector in Central Pennsylvania.
Size: The frame measures ~13 3/8" by ~11 3/8", while the art itself measures ~9 5/8" by ~7 1/2". The piece weighs almost 2 pounds.

Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no losses and the frame is also in very good condition. The drawing is well done with no apparent damage or losses. The drawing itself some foxing which can be seen in the photos. The frame has a few minor scratches and a few minor dings to the edge, which can be seen in the photos. The backing has a small tear near the top right corner, but nothing of concern. The piece is clean and ready to hang on your wall. Please review the photos for additional condition information.
