  • $ 117.77

Description: A beautiful silver crown size coin from the Guatemala. This is the 1894H one or un peso coin. The coin displays justice seated facing left with cornucopia in one hand and a staff in the other on the obverse. The obverse has the legend "REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA UN PESO" surrounding justice. The reverse shows the fineness of the silver in the coin (0.900) and the date of issue (1894) under a scroll with a bird (Quetzal) on top of it with swords and guns behind it all surrounded by branches. The coin also has the mint mark "H" in the bottom of the reverse suggesting the coin was minted in Birmingham England. The coin has a reeded edge. Please carefully review the photos provided as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1894.

Mint: Heaton mint in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Size and Weight: Coin weighs ~25 gm of 0.900 silver and is ~37 mm in diameter.

References: It is KM 210.

Condition: I would grade the coin as lustrous extremely fine or much better with all the details being well preserved. The high points in the coin show wear (see the bird on the reverse and the hair of Liberty on the obverse), some loss of details and some minor scratches in the fields as well as a few bag marks. Be that as it may the coin is beautiful, great looking with nice eye appeal. It looks better than the scan suggest and would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
