Description: A stained and lacquered hand carved wood American Folk Art figure. The carving depicts a shore bird standing on a piece of drift wood. The bird has wire legs that are fixed into the wood base. The body of the bird appears to be carved from a single piece of wood with the wings being attached to the body as the beak. The beak appears to be of different wood lighter in color. The bird has two small glass eyes. The entire bird is stained and lacquered. The carving has minimum carved details which are showing the general shape of the bird and head. The wings do not show details of feathers. The piece is marked on the bottom with red ink with the artist's name "Tom Morris". A great looking piece of folk art to add to your collection. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.

Size: The bird measures ~5 1/8" long and is ~4" at its highest. The base measures ~4 1/2" by ~2 3/4" and is ~1" high. The piece weighs almost ~4 ounces.

Maker: Tom Morris.

Marks: The piece has the name "Tom Morris" on the base in red ink.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice and well done piece of Americana, which would make a worthy addition to your collection.

Condition: The carving is in very good condition, with no breaks, losses, or repairs. The base appears to have a crack, but it is still intact and uncompromised.
