Hand Carved Polychrome Painted Folk Art Red Cardinal Bird Standing on Tree Stump
Description: A hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art figure. The carving depicts a red colored Cardinal standing on a tree stump. The cardinal carving has minimum carved details which are showing the end of the tail and the general shape of the head. The body of the bird is red in color with black coloring to show the wings and feathers in the tail. The head has black with yellow beak and eyes. The Cardinal has wire legs affixed to a tree stump which shows beautiful wood coloration. A great looking piece of folk art to add to your collection. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Size: The bird measures ~5 3/4" and is ~6 1/4" at its highest. The base measures ~4 7/8" by ~2 3/4" and is ~3 1/4" high. The piece weighs ~5 ounces.
