1897-1911 ND Mexico Banco de Sonora Five Pesos Banknote Crisp About Uncirculated
Description: A beautiful crisp about uncirculated banknote from Mexico. The note which was issued by El Banco De Sonora has no date and known to have been printed by American Banknote Company of New York in the period 1897-1911. This note is an unissued remainder and has no signatures. It is series DY and has the serial number 386153 printed in red twice on the front. I our opinion, the note is crisp about uncirculated and is beautiful. The note is black on brown and yellow underprint in the front. It shows Hortensia C. Velez at left, a cherub left of center and a standing female (supposedly strength) to the right all on the front. The back is brown and shows the denomination and the name of the issuing bank in white. A superb note in great condition that very seldom comes by. Please carefully review the scans as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Unknown but sometime between 1897-1911.
Printer: American Bank Note Company of New York.
Size: The banknote measures ~7 1/4" by ~3 1/8".
Pick Number: S419r.
Condition: I would grade this bank note as crisp about uncirculated. The note has no folds, no creases, no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears and no splits. It retains all of its original stiffness, crispiness and sheen. It is clean with only some minor bumps, light soiling, and rounding at the corners. These we believe are not due to circulation, but rather due to miss handling. However, this is the reason we grade the note about uncirculated and no uncirculated. The colors are crisp and the note has no observable roughness along the edges. A beautiful note that is in very good condition making it worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
