Nice 1823 Matron Head Large Cent Rare 3 Over 2 Variety PCGS Graded VG10
Description: A nice rare PCGS graded copper 1823 Matron Head Liberty Head large cent or penny. This 3 over 2 variety coin is graded by PCGS as VG10. The coin itself is better than the scan shows and has much of its details evident. The date is readable and Liberty's head can be seen without most of the details of her hair but the word LIBERTY is still all there on the obverse. The word one cent in the center of the reverse is obvious as is the wreath and the words United States of America. The coin has wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. The coin is problem free and in original condition. These coins were designed by Robert Scott . Early US coins such as this are gradually getting difficult to find, especially this date for which the mintage was 1,461,100. Please carefully view the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 1823.

Condition: The coin is graded and slabbed by PCGS. It is graded as VG10. It is our opinion that the coin is more like a good F than a VG, but you be the judge. The date is readable and Liberty's head can be seen without most of the details of her hair but the word LIBERTY is still all there on the obverse. The word one cent in the center of the reverse is obvious as is the wreath and the words United States of America. The coin has wear commensurate with its age, some scratches and bag marks. The coin is in excellent original condition and is truly problem free. A definite rare find, deserving a spot in your collection. Please see photos to appreciate condition and beauty of the coin.
