Nice 1950 National Bank of Egypt 25 Piastres P #10d Leith-Ross Signature VF+
Description: A nice very fine or much better banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 15th June 1950, very desirable 25 piastres banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is deep purple in color on multi colored background. It depicts the image of a village on the banks of the Nile with people and camels and showing sail boats anchored at the edge of the water. The back shows a colorful design in dark blue on a pale orange and gray background with the wings of Horus on top and the name of the bank as well as the denomination in the center. The front also indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 783530 and is from the series L/104, which is displayed twice in black lettering on the front but not on the back. The note has no watermark. It is signed by Leith-Ross the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 15th June 1950.
Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co Ltd of London England.
Size: The banknote measures ~4 7/8" by ~2 13/16".
Pick Number: 10d and is listed in the Banknote Book as B108e.
Condition: For international buyers, please note that the new US postal rates for overseas shipping are very high and we are unable to change them. Additional charges will be incurred depending on the value of the item. Please check the cost of shipping before bidding. I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine of better. The note has all of its details well preserved (with the exception of the number 1 in the L/104 in the bottom left corner, which appears to have been obliterated by the discoloration caused by a vertical crease going through it). The note has several vertical creases and a horizontal fold and appears to have been lightly flattened. It still retains some of its original stiffness. Its corners are squared and have minimum rounding but have some bumps especially the top right corner. The note has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears and no splits. A nice note that is clean with no stains worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
