No Date 1966 Ethiopia 100 Dollar Banknote Emperor Haile Selassie Pick No 29a XF+
Description: A nice apparent extremely fine or much better Banknote from Ethiopia. This is the no date 1966, one hundred dollars currency note issued by the National Bank of Ethiopia. The front of the banknote is purple on green and multicolored underprint and shows the bust of Emperor Haile Selassie to the right. There is a building in the left bottom corner of the front, which represents the Rock Church of Bet Giorgis in Lalibela. The back, which is purple in color, depicts the image of the Ethiopian Arms which is a crowned lion with a flagged cross in its paw. The banknote does not display the date anywhere. It displays the denomination on both the front and back. It has one signature on the front. This particular note has the serial number C248400, which is displayed in black twice on the front. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice extremely or much better with all the details being very well preserved. The note retains all its original stiffness, crispiness, and sheen. The note has no folds and no creases. The note is relatively clean with some stains on the back near the corners. The note has graffiti in the form of a green 100 with a scribble below it on the back near the left edge. It has no pinholes, no tears, and no splits. The corners are intact with minimum rounding. We are grading the note as XF instead of AU because of the stains and graffiti on the back and some soiling along the edges. The note was most likely never circulated or very lightly circulated, but must have been badly handled by collectors or bank tellers. Be that as it may, this is a very nice note in relatively good condition to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
