Old Redware Miniature Jar Blood Letting Vessel? Bulbous Shape Wide Surface Rim

  • $ 177.77

Description: A very unusual miniature glazed antique southeastern Pennsylvania jar. The miniature jar, which we believe could have been a bloodletting vessel, has a bulbous shape and a very unusual wide flat surface rim. The jar is glazed both on the interior as well as the exterior. The jar which is ~2" high is a bit miss-shaped and has some glaze losses throughout. It also has many of the usual defects you would expect with all these primitive redware pieces such as pops, slubs, unglazed areas and uneven spots. Be that as it may, the jar is intact with no cracks, hairlines, or breaks. It is rather soiled but still looks great for a handmade piece. A nice and very unusual antique to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
