Rare Silver Egyptian Coin 1937 AD or 1356 AH Crown Size 20 Piastres King Farouk the First Facing Left ANACS About Uncirculated AU 55

Description: A nicely toned, about uncirculated, and rare 1356 AH or 1937 AD Egyptian twenty piastres silver coin. The coin, which is graded by ANACS as AU 55 Details, depicts the bust of King Farouk the first (who ruled Egypt in the period 1936-1952) facing left. He is wearing a uniform and a fez and has the words Farouk the first King of Egypt along the edge on the obverse. The reverse has the words "Al Mamlkah Al Mesryah" (Kingdom of Egypt) in the center in beautiful calligraphy with the date in years AD (1937) and AH (1356), the denomination above it and surrounded with a tasseled wreath. This is a relatively rare coin with low and undefined mintage. It is graded by ANACS as AU 55 details with the details being a scratch and cleaned. Please carefully review scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Mint: Egypt.

Size and Weight: This is a 20 piastres, which is approximately 40 mm in diameter and weighs ~28 gm of 83.3% silver. The coin has a reeded rim with the central beaded portion.

Condition: The coin is graded as AU 55 Details by ANACS. The details being the coin has scratches and has been cleaned. Inspection of the coin shows a scratch along the king's face, which can be seen when the coin is tilted to the right angle against the light. As for cleaning, the coin is toned has throughout so it must have re-toned. Be that as it may, these issues do not distract from the coin's beauty.
