Roseville Pottery Pair of Blue Snowberry Candlestick Holders
Description: Pair of most beautiful and fairly uncommon blue colored art pottery candlestick holders by the Roseville Pottery Company. This set is in the Snowberry pattern. The pattern shows white berries on brown branches with small green leaves all on a blue colored background. This pattern was introduced in 1947. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Late 1940's through early 1950's.
Origin: Roseville, Ohio.
Size: Base measures ~3 1/2" in diameter at the base, ~4 3/4" high, and ~1 3/4" in diameter at the top. Both pieces together weigh almost one pound.
Maker: Roseville Pottery Company.
Marks: In relief on the bottom "Roseville, U. S. A. 1CS2".
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a truly nice set which is difficult to come by. The colors are rich, fresh and vivid and would display very well in your collection.
Condition: Both pieces are in relatively good condition. The pieces have no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. Both have signs of onset of crazing to the glaze in the form of a few lines here and there which are difficult to see but are there. They also have residue of wax suggesting that they were used by the previous owner for the purpose they were made for. They would probably benefit from a good cleaning but we leave that to the discretion of the new owner. Finally, we note a defect in the making on one of side arms (see next to last photo) where the glaze and coloring did not fully flow and resulted on a few rough spots and unglazed spot which we believe are original to the making. This is why we are selling the candlesticks AS Found and at a low price representing a fraction of their actual value. Be that as it may, this is a great looking pair of candlestick holders to add to your collection or use around your home. Please see photos to appreciate the beauty, quality and condition of these beautiful pieces.
