The Bahamas Government One Pound Banknote Pick Number 15d Good Very Fine or Better Currency Note
Description: A beautiful very fine or better banknote from the Bahamas. This is the One Pound No Date (1953) banknote issued by the Bahamas Government and introduced into circulation in 1963. It has black designs on multi-colored underprint with green and pink tones on the front. The front of the note shows a sail ship in a circular frame to the left and the image of a young Queen Elizabeth II to the right. The back is black in color and depicts Bahamas arms to the left and denomination to the right. The front displays the denomination, and three signatures with the central signature being that of W. H. Sweeting and the one to the far right being that of George Roberts making it Pick Number 15d. This particular note has the serial number A/5 300078 printed in black twice on the front but not on the back. The note has a security thread left of center. This is a relatively rare note in such a nice grade and quality. Just a great note to add to your collection. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: The note is undated but referred to as 1953 issue. The note is confirmed by Linzmayer as being introduced in 1963.
Printer: Thomas De La Rue & Company Ltd. London England.
Size: The banknote measures ~6" by ~3 1/4".
Pick Number: P 15d and is listed in the Banknote Book as B114d.
Condition: I would grade this note as good very fine or better with all its details being well preserved. The note has several light vertical folds, a central horizontal fold, general wrinkling, some light soiling, a few minor light stains, and a couple of bumps to the edge. The note has no pinholes, no objectionable large stains, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. The edges are intact with minor roughness. The corners are intact and fairly squared, with some rounding. The note retains quite a bit of its original stiffness but has lost much of its sheen and crispiness. Be that as it may, this is a great note to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
