Unusual 1940 Isaac Stahl Brown Colored Glazed Redware Miniature Deep Bowl

  • $ 87.77

Description: A nice glazed redware miniature or small deep bowl with formed edge by Isaac Stahl. The bowl has a flat round base with rising slightly rounded sides ending in a formed edge with repeating decoration on the back. The piece has a plain edge and is textured on the inside especially on the bottom. The inside of the piece is glazed, while the exterior is is unglazed but is burnished and smoothed. It appears to have been colored in the past and have lost most of the coloring with the exception of a blue thin band all around the circumference. The bottom is unglazed to and is marked and dated by Isaac Stahl. The piece is rather unusual in the fact that the bottom of the inside shows general unevenness and has a gritty and rough appearance with some spots where you can see the bare redware where the coloring/glaze did not fully cover them. It also has what looks like pools where the coloring/glaze has pooled and set in little pools of concentrated color/glaze. The piece has general crazing to the glaze. An unusual piece of Stahl pottery worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

It also has what looks like pools where the coloring/glaze has pooled and set in little pools of concentrated color/glaze.
