Unusual Mid 20th Century Glazed Cast Redware Slip Decorated Mug with 4 Handles By James C Seagraves

  • $ 49.99

Description: A nice size glazed and slip decorated redware mug with four applied handles made by James C Seagraves. The orangish brown colored mug has an off-white slip decoration of repeating lines, both straight and wavy, and dots with green colored highlights on the body of the mug. It also has gray or greenish gray colored spots painted along the top and bottom edge and the sides of the four handles. Finally, the handles have raised circles that are also colored in the same greenish gray on the top. The mug, which we believe is cast, has four handles which is very unusual and we are not certain what it would be used for but possibly it was made just for nice. The mug has a flat round base and outwards flared straight side ending in a shaped plain rim. The flat base is marked on the underside "JCS." A beautiful piece of modern redware to add to your collection. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
