Unusual Old Forged Wrought Iron 3-Pronged Butcher Flesh Fork Flattened Handle

Description: A beautiful old handmade three-pronged butcher meat or flesh fork. The pieces is made of forged wrought iron with a tubular solid handle flattened at the top end. The tubular portion of the handle ends at three prongs on one end and at a curved end to hang from at the other end. The unusual bottom portion of the handle goes into the three tubular prongs, which is rather unusual since these are normally two pronged, of the fork which have pointed ends. The prongs appear to be integral to the handle as opposed to being soldered or welded to the handle. The fork is unmarked but great looking. It is high quality old butcher tool which seldom come by and would make a great addition to any collection. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description. 

Date: Unknown, but most likely mid-1800s to mid-1900s (mid 19th century to mid 20th century), could be earlier. 

Origin: Purchased at an antiques auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania, where it was most likely was made.

Size: The fork measures ~13 3/4" long, is ~1 3/4" at its widest and its prongs are ~3" long. The piece weighs about 6 ounces. 

Maker: Unknown. 

Marks: Unmarked. 

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A nice well-made wrought iron butcher utensil that is very good looking and would be a great addition to any collection. 

Condition: Fork is in very good condition with no cracks or repairs. It has scratches, some pitting, and minor signs of oxidation commensurate with its age and utilitarian function. It has a beautiful age patina and a pleasing appearance. Please see photos for additional condition information.
