Vintage 9" Majolica Cake Stand Beautiful Raised Leaves Design Brown, Green and White colors Central 4.5" High Column Foot
Description: A beautiful and very unusual vintage majolica cake stand. The cake stand which is very colorful and has brown coloring, green and white with pinkish tint. The stand has a nine inch plate on top of a central foot which is partially hollow and slops from a wide base through a wait having a raised ring and finally flaring outwards to carry the plate. The bottom of the plate is colored in various brown shades. A very unusual piece that is very colorful and in great condition. Just a beautiful decorative majolica piece, which would make a great addition to your collection or art pottery or cake stands. Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 20th century, possibly earlier.
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~8 7/8" in diameter on top and is ~4 5/8" high. The stand weighs about one pound and 11 ounces.
Marks: Has the letter N or Z on the inside of the bottom of the foot.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice and very unusual piece of vintage Majolica that is in excellent condition. The piece would display very well and make a nice addition to your Majolica collection.
Condition: The cake stand is in excellent condition with no cracks, hairlines, chips, or repairs. The stand has general overall crazing to the glaze. It also has what looks like a few utensil marks on the plate. These are minor and do not distract from the stand's beauty and quality. The stand shows vivid colors and the design is great looking.
