Vintage Bronze Figurine Beautiful Prancing Horse Rectangular Flat Base
Description: A beautiful good size bronze horse figurine. The figurine shows a prancing horse with his neck up and head down. He is walking on all fours with one leg up in the air. The bronze figurine is on a textured rectangular base with rounded corners. The horse shows a lot of details such as his mane, his ears, his eyes., and his tail. The figurine also suggests that there is some sort of cover over the horse's back. The piece appears to be hollow but weighs almost 2 1/2 pounds. The piece appears to have been attached to a base of some sort as can be seen from examining the bottom of its base which shows holes where fasteners would have been. This is the way we found it and we are selling it as found. Be that as it may, the piece would display very well. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Uncertain, but most likely mid 1900s.
Origin: Purchased in an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The base measures ~8" by 3 1/4" and the piece itself is 6 1/2" at its highest point (the top of the horse's mane). The piece weighs almost 2 1/2 pounds.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice bronze figurine of a great looking horse. Please see photos to appreciate beauty and condition of the figurine.
Condition: The figurine is in relatively good condition with no breaks or repairs. It would appear that the piece has lost some parts, such as a bit that would have been in the holes at the mouth (see ninth photo). It also appears that it may have had something on top of the head where a hole between the ears exists (see eighth photo). In addition, as we indicated earlier it may have had a base which is no longer there. The piece also has a few scratches and a couple of stains (see the horse's neck) and spots of minor oxidation around the base of the horse's neck and the base of the tail. There is also whitening on the bottom of the base, which we did not attempt to clean. Because of these issues we are selling this piece "AS IS" at a fraction of its true value. Be that as it may, the piece would display nicely and would look great in your collection of bronze figurines. Please see photos for additional condition information. In Closing: This is a very nice figurine in relatively good condition. A great addition to any horse figurine collection.
