Vintage Carved Wood Polychrome Painted Shorebird Decoy Glass Eyes

  • $ 49.99

Description: A beautiful polychrome painted, unsigned, shorebird decoy. This carved wood decoy is painted and shows the bird standing with his head pointing down with its orange and black beak pointing down. The bird has metal painted legs which are anchored into a wooden base meant to look like a seashore rock. The bird is painted in light brown, and white with black highlights and has what we believe are glass eyes. A great looking piece which would make a great addition to your collection or can be used as a decorative accent. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Uncertain but most likely mid to late 20th century.

Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: The decoy measures ~8" long with the base being ~3 by 2" and piece is ~7" at its highest point. The piece weighs about 8 1/2 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Condition: The piece is in excellent condition with minimum wear or losses to the finish. The piece has no breaks or repairs. It has a few scratches to the surface and minor losses to the paint if any with the point of the beak having a slight loss of paint. The piece is slightly soiled but nothing of true concern. This is a solid, and beautiful piece with lots of character, and would display very nicely in your collection or make for a nice decorative accent. Please see photos for additional condition information.
