Vintage Cast Iron Figural Painted Bottle Opener Black Cocker Spaniel Dog
Description: A vintage painted cast iron bottle opener in the form of a black colored Cocker Spaniel dog standing with one leg raised. The piece is colored entirely in black. The casting is well done and shows details of the dog's fur coat, furry ears, facial details such as nose, mouth, and eyes. The dog's eyes are recessed and painted in white with a black pupil. The front of the dog has an extension below the head which in conjunction with the dog's mouth and nose portion serves as the bottle opener with the body serving as the handle. Very nice and unusual piece, which would make a nice addition to your cocker spaniel or bottle opener related collection. Date: Unknown but most likely sometime in the mid to late 1900s.
Origin: It was purchased in an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: About ~3" high, ~4" long, and ~1" wide. The piece weighs slightly over 14 ounces.
