Vintage Cobalt Blue Glazed Stoneware Stein Raised Colorful Soccer Players Design With Pewter Lid Marked MR Made in Germany
Description: A very nicely decorated German glazed stoneware stein with a pewter lid. The stein is shaped in a round fashion reminiscent of the shape of a soccer ball. It is decorated with colorful raised designs of soccer players on a cobalt blue background. The stein has an applied handle having the hinge for the pewter lid attached to it. The flat pewter lid, marked "REIN ZINN" on the inside, has a ball shaped thumb piece. The soccer players scenes are separated into three vignettes separated by raised white floral designs. Both the exterior and the interior of the stein are glazed, but not the bottom foot. The bottom of the stein is circular in shape with a foot. It has rounded sides rising from it and ending at a top opening. There is gold colored band around the base, the top rim and a rind at the top of the cobalt blue coloring. The stein comes with a yellow card inscribed German Soccer Players Beer Stein Marked Germany on Bottom. It would appear to be an old auction tag. We are including this tag with the item since we are selling it as found. The stein is not marked as to its capacity but we determine it can hold half a liter of fluid. The stein is substantial and has a nice appearance and style with gray colored interior and base. The stein has an applied ear-shaped handle with the hinge for the lid being attached to its top. It has a round recessed bottom with the impressed mark "R/M" within an oval and is stamped in ink "MADE IN GERMANY " on the edge of the foot. Again, the hinged lid is made of pewter and has a thumb piece in the form of a ball. A nice and substantial stein weighing almost one pound and 11 ounces. A beautiful vintage stein to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice piece of breweriana pottery with very nice decoration. It would make a nice addition to your collection of soccer related items or of pottery Steins and Beer related items.
Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no cracks, chips, hairlines, or repairs. The stein has signs of general crazing to the glaze both inside and out, but these are difficult to see on the outside due to the cobalt blue coloring of the background. The lid is intact and the hinge is solidly in place. The top of the lid has some minor soiling and staining and could probably benefit from a good cleaning to bring out its full beauty.
