Vintage Colored Tapestry Purse With Small Faux Pearls Decoration Hand Made in Hong Kong
Description: This is a beautiful vintage purse hand made in Hong Kong. The purse which has a tapestry colored exterior has a metal cast frame, which has a gold on white decoration on top. The two sides of the frame have a locking mechanism (clasp) consisting of a pair of interlocking cylinders at the end of a short metal stem. The exterior of the purse is decorated with small faux pearls on both sides. One side is extensively decorated throughout while the other side is only decorated with these pearls on the top below the metal frame. Not certain why that is! The purse has a nice golden chain handle secured to the frame through metal loops attached to the two ends of one of the halves of the frame. The inside is nicely lined with a white colored satin material having a small pocket on one side. There is a white cloth label indicating the purse is "Hand Made in Hong Kong." Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Unknown, but most likely mid to late 1900's.
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size and Weight: The purse measures ~7 1/4" at its widest and ~6" at its deepest. It weighs almost 5 ounces.
Marks: Has a cloth label on the inside says "R.N. 1326 HAND MADE IN HONGKONG"
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very beautiful and fine purse in very good condition , which would make a great addition to any collection.
Condition: The purse is in very good condition. The clasp works well and the cloth both inside and out has no rips, breaks, losses, soiling, or stains. The [piece appears to have never been used. It is uncertain why one side is heavily decorated with faux pearls while the other is only decorated at the frame. This appears to have been done on purpose since there is no indication that the pearls were lost or removed from one side. Possibly this was done in anticipation of having a purse with two different sides! The purse is all there with no breaks or repair. The inside is clean with no stains. The chain is intact and all the colors of the purse are vivid and without losses. This is a great looking vintage purse worthy of a spot in your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
