Vintage Cylindrical Shaped Hand Painted Porcelain Box By Bernardaud Limoges France
Description: A beautiful hand painted Limoges porcelain box in the form of a tall cylinder. The box opens in the top with a hinged lid and is white on the inside. The exterior is nicely decorated with a dainty floral and foliate design consisting of flowers with blue colored petals on brown stems with green leaves. The design is hand painted on the white background of the porcelain. The entire piece is made of porcelain with brass hinged closure. The closure has a flower shaped brass locking mechanism to ensure the box closes firmly. The flower has a raised bottom for ease of handling. The box has a circular flat base that is slightly recessed with straight rising side walls. The decoration is on the sides of the box as well as on top of the lid. The piece is undecorated on the inside. It is marked on the base with the words "Limoges France" in green under glaze lettering and the words "Bernardaud Limoges" in blue under glaze lettering. This is a very nicely done with very nice decoration and well made porcelain box from Limoges France. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Size: Measures ~1 3/8” in diameter at the base and is ~3 1/4" tall. The piece weighs a little over 3 ounces.

Marks: Marked on the base with the words "Limoges France" in green under glaze lettering and the words "Bernardaud Limoges" in blue under glaze lettering.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice and very interesting box made by one of the most famous Porcelain makers in Limoges France, which deserves a spot in your French Limoges porcelain or small box collection.
Condition: Box is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, hairlines, crazing, loss of color, or repairs. The hinge is intact and the box closes well. Please note that all the blues in the design are cobalt blue color and that the lighter blues are really an artifact of the flash during the photography. In addition, the dark colored spot on the lid is some soiling that we have cleaned since and is no longer there. All in all, a wonderful and unusual piece to add to your collection.
