Vintage Newport Line Cast Brass Pineapple Bookends By Virginia Metalcrafters
Description: A pair of vintage cast brass bookends. The bookends are in detailed pineapple design symbolizing hospitality. The bookends are rather heavy weighing over 2 pounds and 13 ounces. The bookends have a golden appearance with a painted back side in black. they are marked NEWPORT/NB-2/VMC. The bottom of the bookends have small round felt pieces attached to it to prevent them from sliding. The surface of the bookends have some scratches and minor scuff marks. A beautiful pair of bookends that will hold your books or make a great addition to your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Uncertain but most likely sometime in the mid to late 20th century.
Origin: Purchased in an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~6 1/2" high and the base is ~3" by ~2 1/2". The pair weighs over 2 pounds and 13 ounces.

Marks: Marked on the back in raised lettering "NEWPORT/NB-2/VMC."

Condition: The bookends are in very good condition with no breaks, repairs, or dings that we could find. They have losses minor scratches and scuff marks to the surface. Both pieces are slightly soiled and would likely benefit from a good cleaning but we leave that to the discretion of the new owner. The bottom of the bookends have small round felt pieces attached to it to prevent them from sliding. However, some of these have been lost and left glue residue in their place. Be that as it may, the bookends are great looking and would make an excellent addition to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition details.
