Vintage Ormolu Double Inkwell Sitting Cherub and Quill Rest Glass Inserts

Description: A vintage Ormolu double inkwells with glass inserts. The wells have hinged lids covering the inserts. The set is of solid metal with gold coloring and having a winged cherub in between the wells as well as a quill rest again between the wells in the front. The each well has four small feet with raised decoration on its sides, the edges of the lid, and on the bottom. The cherub is sitting in the center having his legs crossed with one arm raised and leaning on the other arm. The Cherub's head, having nice detailed hair, tilted to the right. The Cherub is sitting on a raised pedestal with oval cartouches on the front and back. Both glass inserts can be taken out and fit nicely on the ledge of the opening. The lids are domed with a slightly rounded rectangular top. This is a vintage piece, which is probably from the early to mid 1900s. This piece is rather heavy for its size and is made of non-ferrous (does not stick to a magnet) metal. Please see photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Uncertain, but most likely early to mid 1900's

Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in southern New Jersey

Size and Weight: The piece measures ~8" by ~2 1/2" at the base. The cherub is ~3 3/4" high while the wells are ~2 1/2" high to the top of the lids. The glass inserts are ~1" diameter at the base and are ~1 1/8" high. The piece weighs over 2 pounds of cast metal.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice and great looking piece having beautiful and very interesting . Definitely a nice piece worthy of a prominent spot in your collection.

Condition: This inkwell is in good original condition. It is all there and appears to be all original with minimum scratches and soiling to the surfaces. The only issue we discovered is the fact that one of the prongs of the quill rest was broken and repaired as seen in the last two photos. Other than that the piece has no other issues and looks great. The glass wells are in excellent shape with no chips or breaks.<font color=red><b> Because of the repair to the quill rest, we are selling the piece "AS IS" at less than a third of its true value.</font> This piece is just super, great looking, and rather unusual.
