Folk Art Water Color on Paper Fraktur Colorful Old Pitcher by Garnett B. French
Description: A very interesting small framed pen and water color on paper Pennsylvania Dutch style fraktur by Garnett B. French. The drawing is of a pitcher or jug with a handle and a large spout. The pitcher has a base supporting a rounded pot belly shaped body with a neck and a large spout. The pitcher has a thin brown colored handle. The pitcher is colored in an orange color with yellow wavy lines and brown parallel lines. There is also a green flower near the top. The image has a legend on top that says "HENRY.LAPP.1876.27.; Lead Glass Sold by" above the pitcher. We believe the legend is incomplete and that the piece is most likely a reproduction by Garnett French of a broadside or an old drawing. The drawing is executed on brown paper giving the drawing an antiqued look. The piece is in a primitive wooden frame painted in blue with raised black corners. The image is covered with glass and has a brown paper backing with a wire stretched along the entire piece to hang from. The image is signed but not dated by the artist below the pitcher. The pitcher is very colorful with tones of orange, yellow, green, and brown with the writing on top being in black ink. A very interesting painting to add to your Americana folk art collection or use as a decorative accent in your home. Please see photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
