Vintage Sterling Silver Gorham Saccharin Box Lided Miniature Urn Marked Gorham Sterling 369
Description: A beautiful old sterling silver lidded Saccharin box or miniature urn. The box has a round foot which constricts to a neck and then flares outwards rising rounded sides which end in a plain rim. The urn or box has a tight fitting domed lid with a finial in its center., which rests on the top rim. The piece is made by Gorham and weighs about 21.5 grams or about 0.7 troy ounces of sterling silver. It is marked Gorham Sterling and has the number 369. The piece is not monogrammed, which is rather unusual for such high end pieces. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 20th century.
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~1 9/16" diameter at the top, 7/8" in diameter at the base, and is 1 5/8" high with the lid on to the top of the finial. The piece weighs 21.5 grams or 0.7 troy ounces.
Marks: Has the word "Gorham Sterling" on the stamped on the edge of the foot and the number "369" within them.
Condition: The piece is in excellent condition. The server has no breaks, dings, or repairs but has some scratches all over. It is clean, solid, and all there. It could probably use additional cleaning, but we leave this to the new owner.
